$45.00

5:30PM-8:30PM

Turn your favorite book cover into living decor! In this guided workshop, you’ll recreate your beloved cover design on a ceramic planter using an ink transfer technique and hand painting. Whether you copy the cover closely or add your own artistic twist, you’ll leave with a unique piece that celebrates both books and plants.

The owner, Ceci, will be painting alongside the class, offering tips, demonstrations, and one-on-one guidance throughout the session. Because the class size is intentionally small, you’ll get plenty of attention and support while working on your piece.

How it works

  • Choose your book cover: While purchasing your ticket, use the form field to send us the exact book you’d like to paint. Please include the title and author, and specify which book in a series if applicable.

  • We prepare the design: We’ll print the cover and transfer the image onto your ceramic planter using an ink transfer method so you have a guide to paint from.

  • Paint your design: You’ll paint directly over the transfer using acrylic paints. You’re welcome to replicate the cover closely or interpret it in your own style.

  • Reference materials help: Bringing the book itself, a photo of the cover on your phone, or a printed color copy can make painting easier.

  • Instruction included: Ceci will demonstrate techniques, help with color mixing, and provide guidance throughout the class.

  • Workshop length: Plan for up to 3 hours to complete your planter.

  • Finished piece: At the end, we’ll add live air plants to the top, turning your artwork into a functional planter.

Skill level

This workshop is best for participants who have some basic painting familiarity. You do not need to be an expert artist, but it helps if you’re comfortable with simple painting concepts such as:

  • Mixing colors

  • Using brushes and basic painting techniques

  • Following a visual reference

If you’ve attended one of our previous painting events, you’ll be well prepared.

Choosing a book cover

Some covers translate to paint better than others. When selecting your book, try to choose a design that is:

  • Colorful or visually striking

  • Recognizable but not overly intricate

  • Something you’d enjoy painting for a few hours

Example cover

Ceci’s example piece is based on fan art from the book Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. This is currently a very popular book. If you would prefer the fan art version please specify this in your book selection message.

We can’t wait to see which stories you bring to life on your planter!
